Eyelite™ - The first LED lens light with interchangeable colour sources.
CineLED Limited has announced the launch of the Eyelite™ - an LED based
ring light system, designed specifically for film/TV production.
CineLED Limited is a leading product developer in the fast growing LED
(light emitting diode) lighting sector. LED's are set to become the new
choice for production environments because of their flexibility, colour
rendering options and incredible durability.
The
Eyelite has been designed by experienced film industry professionals,
with practicality a key feature. There are a range of interchangeable
LED sources - including daylight, tungsten and controllable RGB. There
is also a lightweight version for Steadicam or portable work.
One of the founders of CineLED, Barry Ackroyd BSC is a BAFTA
nominated, Director of Photography - well known for his innovative
approach to lighting...
"LED lighting is about to play a big part in film and TV lighting. I
have formed CineLED with LED specialist Andy Clark to develop uses for
this new technology.
Our first light is based on the ring light idea that has been tried in
many different forms. Over the years, I've used regular tungsten bulbs
mounted around the lens, circular fluorescent tubes and now use our LED
Eyelite. Our aim with the Eyelite is to offer the best designed, best
performing and most versatile light available.
The 'eye' shape represents my intention as a working Director of
Photography to use the light source in the best possible way. The oval
shape ensures that light wraps around the subject, complementing film
ratios and creating soft shadow less fill or source light - its curved
profile ensures that the operator's peripheral vision is clear.
Eyelite comes with interchangeable light sources, fixed into the rigid
chassis. This makes it simple to use a range of lighting sources
including daylight and tungsten. We have also created an RGB source
which is designed to compliment any given lighting effect. The RGB
source also allows a DoP to dial in any colour of the spectrum at will
during the shot.
Eyelite is (to our knowledge) the most powerful LED source available.
It gives out a very good F stop - well beyond the range of 1 or 2 meters
achieved by earlier lights. Eyelite will provide as much as F2.8 over 3
meters with 500 ASA film stock.
LEDs are a fast developing technology and will be refined and improved
dramatically over the next few years. With CineLED we intend to provide
the industry with the best lighting design available."
